Artist Alley & Vendor Application Rules
✧ Artist Protection Policy
We do not allow AI-generated or AI-assisted artwork, traced artwork, or artwork that is heavily referenced from official artwork without significant original input. Violations will result in a blacklist, preventing future participation. This policy ensures all art sold is original, maintaining the integrity of the event.
✧ Prohibited List of Merchandise (Non-Exhaustive)
- Artificial intelligence generated artwork or artwork made with the assistance of artificial intelligence;
- Artwork which shows uncovered genitalia or, at the discretion of the organisers, is deemed to be too explicit to be displayed in public;
- Artwork which is proven, or which is deemed at the sole discretion of the organiser, to be traced from another artist's artwork or from the official artwork of an IP;
- Artwork which is heavily referenced from another artist's artwork or from the official artwork of an IP, to the point where a reasonable person of the public would believe it to be lacking in its own unique creative genius when compared with the alleged work that it was heavily referenced from (as per copyright laws of the applicable jurisdiction(s));
- At the sole discretion of the organiser, artwork which is too heavily gore;
- Any other artwork which the organiser deems to be unsuitable to be sold or displayed at the event.
✧ Artwork Restrictions
Booths can only sell original artwork created by the artist themselves. All items displayed must be self-created or reflect the artist's personal style, ensuring authenticity and originality.
✧ Permission for Art Usage
Booth owners must obtain written permission to sell products featuring artwork from other artists or groups. This ensures legal authorization to use others' intellectual property.
✧ Content Guidelines
All booth owners are expected to exercise discretion and avoid including explicit or inappropriate content in their merchandise. The organizer retains the authority to evaluate and determine whether any displayed works or products violate these guidelines. This ensures that all materials are suitable for the event and that they maintain a respectful and appropriate environment for all attendees. The organizer may take action if they find that any items do not align with the established standards.
✧ Prohibition on Pirated Goods
Artist Alley booths are strictly prohibited from selling pirated or bootleg items, including figures not produced by the original creator or self-made merchandise that incorporates artwork from other artists or media without permission. This includes unauthorized reproductions or imitations of copyrighted works. Such items infringe on intellectual property rights and undermine the originality and integrity of the event. Booth owners must ensure that all products they sell are either their own creations or properly licensed, in accordance with copyright laws.
✧ Restrictions on Imported and Anime Goods
Parallel-imported items refer to products that have been imported from overseas markets through unauthorized channels, while original anime merchandise is typically produced and distributed by the official rights holders.
Artist Alley booths are prohibited from selling parallel-imported or officially licensed anime merchandise.
Vendor booths must obtain explicit permission from the copyright owners before selling any parallel-imported or original anime merchandise.
✧ Licensing Complaints
In the event of complaints from official licensors regarding items sold at any booth, the organizing committee will investigate the matter and take appropriate, case-specific actions. These actions may include requiring the removal of the disputed items, issuing warnings, or, in severe cases, revoking the booth owner's participation in the event. The committee will evaluate each situation individually, considering the nature of the complaint and the impact on the event's integrity and compliance with intellectual property laws. This process ensures that all vendors adhere to copyright regulations and maintain the standards of the event.
✧ Enforcement of Rules
The organizer may remove any booth owner found in violation of these rules without a refund. This includes unauthorized merchandise or failure to comply with event guidelines. No refunds will be given for disqualified booth owners.
